Frequently asked questions

It all depends on the local weather! Most of the time we’re open by mid-December. Be sure to check our Facebook page for the most up-to-date opening schedule for the season!

Lessons are the easiest and safest way to learn, and we have some great instructors on our staff! Lessons start at 10 a.m. daily, and regular lessons are available without an appointment. Private lessons must be scheduled ahead of time.

If this is your first time taking a lesson, expect your first session to last approximately one hour as your instructor shows you the basics. You’ll learn how to safety use your equipment and to safely ski/board the teaching hill. We recommend that you bring more clothing than you need (hat, gloves, coat, sunglasses, waterproof pants, etc.). You can always get comfortable by removing items, but it’s hard to add them if you left them at home!

Check out the current weather page to view our weather widget for the current temperature.

Layers: Layers are best to keep you dry and comfortable. Synthetic or wool based layers help wick moisture away from your skin.

Socks: Stay away from cotton! Instead, choose polyester, silk, wool or nylon socks. Thick socks or multiple layers of socks can cause blisters and reduce circulation, which leads to cold feet. Ski and snowboard boots are designed to be warm, so one pair of socks should suffice.

Hat: Did you know 60% of your body heat is lost through your head? Wear a hat to keep your head warm.

Gloves: Gloves or mittens should be waterproof. Mittens are often better for those susceptible to cold hands.

Outer layer: Make sure you have water resistant pants, like snow bibs, and a winter jacket.

Goggles: Protect your eyes/face from wind, cold and sun with a pair of winter goggles.

The Terrain Park is our professionally designed and designated freestyle area, offering jumps, rails and boxes for all levels of freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Spend your day trying out 40+ features and 40-foot jumps!

We encourage guests to skip the line and purchase all tickets (including ski, snowboard and tubing tickets) through our online portal.

During the winter season, we’re open Monday-Friday from 9am to 9 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 10pm. In the event of any closures due to extreme cold, the best way to find cancellations is through our Facebook page.

We recently invested in updated lighting throughout the entire park, so guests can safely ski once the sun goes down.

A Snowstar season pass will always give you access to the lifts, plus unlimited skiing and snowboarding for the season.

You bet! Our group season pass is our most affordable way to enjoy Snowstar during the winter season. Here’s how it works:

  • Group of 50 or more = $185/pass
  • Group of 100 or more = $175/pass
  • Group organizer scores a FREE season pass

All names must be submitted in a clean Excel sheet and include name, phone and email. Must pay in full by August 1. Call 309-798-2673 for details!

Yes, you can. But remember:

  • Old, out-of-date equipment is dangerous
  • We cannot adjust outdated bindings
  • All skis/snowboards must have devices to prevent runaways
  • We do not allow plastic or other unsafe snowboards
  • Bindings mounted to a board indicate a safe board; bindings mounted through a board indicate an unsafe board
  • All boards must have a metal edge

No equipment? No problem. For just $32, you’re able to rent everything you need right here at Snowstar. You can even add an equipment rental package to you season pass! For $175, you'll get skis, boots and poles, or a snowboard and boots. Onsite rentals must be returned after each use and will be tuned for your next time out.

Parking at Snowstar is currently free. There may be times when the ski resort is busier than others. During busy weekends and peak periods, you may find parking on the street or follow signs that we have up.

9500 126th St. W., Andalusia, IL 61232
